The Spying Game ala Norm Coleman

Senator Norm Coleman, the man that brought George Galloway to testify in Washington DC, has been trying to get a tricky piece of legislation passed this last while, but is resigned to trying it under a new President.

There are so many draconian laws introduced these days that it is difficult to decide which to cover. Norm Coleman (R-MN), has introduced a modern day McCarthy HUAC type bill that would not just stop at terrorist related activities, but would root out radicals, subversives and “would-be terrorists”. As you might imagine, we at the underground radical are not all that pleased about this.

I would argue that the most interesting development to come out of this bill is the fact that Coleman is willing to wait until after the November elections to try to secure its passage. Like us, Norm must know that the Democrats are polling ahead of McCain at the moment and people aren’t embracing fascism at a level they once were, so Senator Coleman may have to settle for either Obama or Clinton (we all know that she has something up her sleeve- a large win in Pennsylvania followed by the reinstatement of Florida and Michigan’s delegates along with a strong superdelegate vote-could it happen?).

So, the big question is whether Norm thinks that the war of terror is at such an advanced stage that he could still get this bill through both chambers under a Democrat that he may despise. Can you see pigs flying outside your window yet? You may be seeing a few of them in the next few years as the liberal Democratic base is intimidated and eroded.

Luckily for us, it may not yet come to pass. Norm Coleman is being challenged for the senate by both Al Franken and former Minnesota governor Jesse Ventura (possibly). Ventura beat him to become governor for his one term in the state mansion (actually Ventura stayed in his own house and didn’t use the mansion). With the breakdown of the vote it would be possible for both Franken and Ventura to get in, given that Ventura appeals to everyone from the anti-war liberal-fiscal conservative, the Ron Paul following gun owner, the anti-war fringe Democrat to the registered independents, who helped Ventura win the governors race.

Here is Ventura discussing his possible run,
